Terms of Service.

Effective: May 24, 2026·Version 1.0

JOPStudios is operated by Jide Odukoya, a sole proprietorship in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. These terms apply to jopstudios.com and every engagement that flows through it. The studio agreement we sign for your specific work is the binding document; these terms are the framework it sits inside, and where the two differ the studio agreement controls.

Booking and payment

  • An inquiry or consultation does not reserve your date. Your date is reserved only after the studio agreement is countersigned and the retainer has cleared.
  • The retainer is non-refundable. The balance is paid on the schedule in your agreement, with the final installment due before the wedding.
  • Accepted methods: Stripe (Visa / Mastercard / Amex), Interac e-transfer, bank wire. Pricing is in CAD unless your agreement says otherwise. Ontario HST is applied. Travel, additional crew, and product add-ons are itemized in your proposal.

Postponement and cancellation

  • You may postpone once at no fee within the same calendar season, subject to availability. A second postponement may carry a re-season adjustment.
  • If you cancel, the retainer is not refundable. Installments beyond the retainer are refunded per your agreement, less work performed.
  • For force majeure (serious illness, government order, venue closure, similar), we will use reasonable efforts to assign an associate of comparable skill or to refund the unearned portion. Force majeure terms in your agreement override this paragraph.

On the wedding day

  • You provide a realistic timeline prepared with us in advance. A meal and short break are provided for the crew on coverage of six hours or more.
  • We are not responsible for events outside our control: severe weather, vendor delays, venue restrictions, guest behaviour, or schedule changes you elect to make. We will adapt within reason.
  • For safety, we may decline to enter areas we consider unsafe and will propose an alternative.

Deliverables and timelines

  • Sneak peek within 72 hours. Full photo gallery within 6 to 8 weeks. Wedding films within 10 to 14 weeks.
  • Galleries are delivered through a private, password-protected platform with full-resolution downloads and a built-in print shop. Album production runs 8 to 12 weeks from your approval of the spread design.
  • We retain master files for a minimum of 7 years. Download and archive your own copies on delivery.

Copyright and licensing

  • JOPStudios retains copyright in every photograph and film. Standard for working photographers in Canada.
  • You receive a lifetime, worldwide, personal-use license to share, print, and reproduce your imagery for personal and family use.
  • Commercial use (advertising, paid licensing, resale, ML training) requires a separate written license.
  • Do not alter our work in ways that change its integrity (heavy recolouring, removing credits or watermarks). Standard Instagram crops are fine. Credit @jopstudios where the platform allows it.

Studio use of your work

Unless your agreement says otherwise, we may use selected images and clips in our portfolio, social, journal, press features, paid advertising, and educational materials. We never sell your imagery to stock libraries or third parties. Write "private wedding" on your agreement to keep everything off public channels.

Privacy

How we collect, use, and retain your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By engaging the studio you also agree to that policy.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, the studio's total liability under these terms or your studio agreement is limited to the amount you have actually paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. The studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Disputes are resolved through direct conversation first; failing that, in the courts of the City of Toronto, Ontario.

Changes

We may update these terms as the studio or the law evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the latest version. Changes do not retroactively alter a studio agreement we have already signed with you.
