My father was a photographer in Nigeria in the 1970s. He photographed weddings, families, presidents.

When he died, I went looking for the photographs of my own childhood. I found three. Three photographs from the first ten years of my life. I don't have a photograph of my mother holding me as a baby. I don't have a photograph of my parents on their wedding day.

I started JOPStudios fourteen years ago because I refuse to let other people lose what I lost. Your wedding day is the one day in your life when every person who shaped you is in the same room. Your mother is younger than she'll ever be again. So is your father.

We don't take pictures of weddings. We take pictures of the people you love, on the day you'll need to remember them most.

The studio is based in Toronto with a sister studio in Lagos. We travel anywhere in the world for the right couple. Press has called the work editorial, cinematic, 'heirloom-grade.' The brides who book us tend to use a different word: family.
